Earnings Portal

Purpose

The Earnings Portal is the new home for everything earnings in EDT. The landing page of the Earnings Portal offers the key highlights overall for the company, and each widget is linked to a dedicated page with more related in-depth analysis.

Each sub-section can be clicked for further analysis in individual dedicated pages. 

Earnings History

This widget ties to the Earnings Surprises analysis, which helps understand how a stock reacted to recent earnings announcement; it compares reported adjusted actuals to consensus data, or to your own scenarios or uploaded data.

The widget itself presents the following summary information:

  • Next Announcement Date: the next known earnings date
  • Prior Announcement Date: the last known earnings date
  • Average 1 Day move: the average percentage stock price move that followed earnings over the past 8 interim periods (or 5 years for the annual view); We define 1 day move as the stock price change on the same day as earnings when those are released pre-market or during market hours, and the next day for earnings released after market hours.
  • Average Earning Surprise: the average percentage difference between the latest consensus EPS and the Adjusted Actual reported by the company over the past 8 interim periods (or 5 years for the annual view).

Action: Clicking on any number takes you to the Earnings History page.

Key trading multiples

The Key Trading Multiples widget offer a summary of historical and forward looking key trading multiples.

It is tied to Sentieo’s Valuation and Price Target (VPT) page of the financial model, which gives even further insight into the history of the company’s market valuations and offers tools to flex the financial model and estimate the stock price using trading multiples.

Investor relations details

This widget offers you the key contact information to reach out to the company or visit the investor relations’ website if necessary.

The window displays the following data:

  • the head of IR’s name
  • IR’s team contact telephone number
  • IR’s email address
  • IR’s website
  • the company’s LinkedIn page

Analyst Recommendation

This widget shows the current average analyst recommendation for the security, and the breakdown of how many contributors issued each recommendation (scale: 5= strong sell, 1 = strong buy).

The widget also provides the current price target and 

In the Earnings Summary page, we show the following metrics:

  • Recommendation data: the stick bar shows on a scale of 5 (strong sell) to 1 (strong buy) the current average consensus recommendation and its value 3 months ago.  The table also shows the number of recommendations for each of the grades from 5 to 1.
  • Price Target data: Are shown current consensus price target, in subscript how many contributors to the consensus poll, current stock price and the upside/downside (%).

Earnings Overview

The central section of the Earnings Portal focuses on one or more specific periods of the consensus model and compares for each estimated metric adjusted reported Actuals to the lastest Estimates and to a group of peers defined by the user; 

You can select any of the Sentieo default peer lists, or any of your watchlist or ETF holding portfolios available on Sentieo;

This will drive the number of beat/miss so it becomes easy to visually build an opinion on a company’s performance compared to its peers for any of the metrics.

Earnings Trends

This feature helps identify trends in earnings over long periods of time by putting in perspective a metric’s historical and future values, with a statistic on growth trends of beat/miss values over time. 

On the Earnings Portal, We show a bar chart visualization of historical Actual vs Estimates for EPS, as well as current forecasts for future periods.

Earnings Estimates Graph

The Earnings Estimate Graph offers a comprehensive view of the general revisions to estimates over time. 

The graph is set by default to EPS and NTM-TWA, but it can be changed to another period using dropdowns.

Actions

  • Metric selection: Select a metric we offer consensus estimates for.
  • Link Icon: Turn this off if you would like to select what the metric independently from what is selected on the Estimates Overview page.
  • On click: Click on the title takes you to the dedicated page in the Charts section of EDT;

Earnings Surprise Trend

The Earnings Estimate Graph offers a comprehensive view of the general revisions to estimates over time. 

The graph is set by default to EPS, same periodicity as the page.

Transcript sentiment Chart

Transcript sentiment is a Sentieo generated Natural Language Processing and Machine Learning backed dataset where the language of participants to earning conference calls has been analysed and compared relatively;

It helps visually identify trends in management confidence, changes of tone or among call participants (eg: management vs analysts).

Actions

  • Choose the Participants to plot: Include/remove from the plot Management, Analysts, and Overall Sentiment

Categories Heatmap

The heatmap shows the top categories Sentieo’s NLP and ML algorithm identified in the earnings transcripts and how healthy was the language around them; a low score is indicative of negative sentiment while a high score shows optimism.

Actions

  • Time Series / Peer Comparison (control): Select between reviewing the snippet counts over time across successive transcripts or for a given periods only across the company’s peer group.
  • Sentiment / # Mentions (control): Select between showing the sentiment score for each theme or the number of times it has been mentioned in each transcript
  • Category breakdown: Uncollapse an individual section to review the various sub-themes individually
  • Snippet Pop up: Click on a number to show all the snippets accounted for.
  • On click: Click on the title to open the broader dedicated transcript sentiment page
