Search Relevance Sort and Sort by Hits
Sometimes you need the latest news; other times you need the most relevant documents. Some situations may call for the most search “hits.” These cases don’t all need to be mutually exclusive. Why not have all three of these at your fingertips?
Sentieo’s Document Search and its new Relevance scoring algorithm — custom-built by our team of data scientists — surfaces documents to the top of your search that are likely to be the most relevant to your search.
Your top results are all based on our machine learning model, which is constantly at work, improving itself, and giving you better results. Relevance ranking is a great way to start your deep research on a topic, as the machine does the work to serve you “the best” at the top and to make you more efficient. The Dashboard
Extract new insights and avoid missing information across your portfolio with your customizable Dashboard. Lose the switching cost you incur from moving between screens by navigating through your portfolio in one view. Scroll down the page for more details on Dashboard.

But perhaps instead of pulling the most relevant documents, you want to pull solely the document with the most (or the least) keyword or phrase mentions within it. You have that at your fingertips, too. Find the most comprehensive documents, or a single mention “slip” in a conference call.
Larger Synonym Library
We have added over 1,500 new synonyms and acronyms to our synonym groups to help you find what you need faster. We are also actively adding user suggestions that come through the newly-implemented user synonym suggestion feature within DocSearch. Keep these coming!
Once we have a suggestion submission, we use our internal AI tool— which is trained on millions of documents —to generate true synonyms. Remember that you can always turn off the synonyms or use quotes around your search term to request an exact match.
Coming Soon:
We are also very excited about the addition of more than 20 million news articles, trade magazines and press releases from our new partnership with LexisNexis. This will be officially released in the coming weeks.

Improvements & Fixes
- Auto-saving: We have made improvements to the auto-saving logic so that user changes are now saved more frequently to our servers. In addition, we are now securely saving a copy of notes being worked on directly in your web browser — so that they can be recovered in the unlikely scenario that a note fails to sync with our servers. In addition, we’ve added a fixed status bar to the bottom of notes and theses which displays the last save time of the note or thesis that you are updating.
- Comment Line Breaks: Comments now support adding line breaks using <Shift+Enter>.
- Thesis history: Previously, only published versions of a thesis were made visible to teammates in the history. Now, drafts are also visible to teammates.
- Search: Content within comments, annotations, and ‘+Add Note’ tab are now retrievable via search. If a search is performed and there is a positive match, the note containing the content will appear in the snippets pane.
- Comment Notification Emails: Previously, comment notification emails only contained the most recently made comment. Now, the full conversation history is visible within each email. The most recent comment will appear at the top with the full history below.
- Comment Notification Settings: For users that do not want to receive comment notification emails, simply switch off these emails by going to Settings > Notebook.
- Shared Note Notifications: Content added to the ‘+Add Note’ tab will now appear as a PDF attachment named Additional note commentary.pdf in notification emails.
- Restricted Thesis Viewing: Thesis drafts will now be restricted from viewing until it has been Published.

Equity Data Terminal
Introducing intraday prices for European, Canadian, and Australian markets
We are excited to add 15-minute delayed intraday pricing for four exchanges: Australian Securities Exchange (ASX), Toronto Stock Exchange (TDX), TSX Venture Exchange (TSXV), and Cboe Europe Equities (formerly BATS Chi-X Europe). Together, these additions cover over 12,000 quotes from 21 countries, with full coverage of Canada and Australia, and extensive coverage of Europe including UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, and Scandinavia.
Improvements
- Added further growth metrics within the Standardized Sentieo model
- Made further refinements to our detailed multi-class market cap tool to provide more detailed and accurate data.
- Added the options of P/FFO, P/AFFO and P/NAV to EDT’s trading multiples chart (REITs stocks only).
- Added the option of EV/EBIT on EDT’s trading multiple charts
- Added EV/(EBITDA-CapEx) to EDT’s Valuation & Price Target model
- Added the ability to flex the quarterly Sentieo Standardized model for scenario analysis
Screener
New
- New Fields: We have added a number of fields to Screener: Daily Volume, Other Payables & Accrued Expenses, Securities Outstanding, VWAP, Stock price return, Latest Available Employee Count (within ‘Employees’ field), EV/Gross Profit
- Consensus Estimates for a specific period: Before, the only type of estimate periods available on Screener were NTM, FY1 (current fiscal year), and FY2 (next fiscal year). We have now made it possible to select the estimate of a specific period (eg: FY2016).
- Include Delisted Tickers: We have added a new option to include delisted stocks in the Screener settings. By default, it is set to exclude the delistings. Sentieo currently includes more than 10k delisted stocks, including all delistings that occurred in the past 3 years, with more history to come.
- Lookback Period: We have added the option to specify a lookback period for consensus estimates. This option lets you ignore data points that have been published further than a given time limit. It is active and set to 12 months by default. If unselected, Screener will return the latest available value even if it has not been updated in years. This option is useful, for example, to filter down the investable universe to only stocks for which consensus estimates have been updated in the past 5 days.
Improvements
- In the field search box of the Add Filter / Add Field menus:
- We added more field name synonyms so that it is now easier to find what you are looking for
- We are now showing the number of results in each category so it is easier to navigate through the results
- We increased the number of stocks that can be exported from Screener to the Comparables Table feature (or to Excel) to 2000 tickers
- We altered the settings of the fields Dollar Volume Liquidity, Equity Beta, and Daily Volume to match the treatment of other fields
Bug Fixes
- Fixed the issue of ‘reporting currency’ and ‘trading currency’ returning blank for all tickers
- Addressed stability issues related to the custom field editors
Excel Plugin
New
- New Fields: We have added the following new fields to the plugin: Other Payables & Accrued Expenses (oth_payables_accrued_exp), Securities Outstanding (sec_outstanding), Total Return Index (total_return_index), Price Return Index (price_return_index), EV/Gross Profit (ev_gross_profit)
- Company basic info: We have added company basic information fields to the Excel plugin.
Field name | Excel plugin code |
Company’s website | homepage_url |
Investor relations’ website | ir_url |
Investor relations’ email | ir_email |
Investor relations’ phone number | ir_phone |
Street address | street_address |
City (address) | city_address |
State or region (address) | state_address |
Postcode | postcode_address |
Full business address | business_address |
- Full GICS We have updated the GICS classification and added GICS Industry Group, GICS Industry, and GICS Sub-Industry (replacing the sub-sector field) to the plugin. The new Excel plugin codes for all the GICS fields are as follows:
Field name | Excel plugin code |
GICS Sector (Level 1) | gics_sector |
GICS Industry Group (Level 2) | gics_industry_group |
GICS Industry (Level 3) | gics_industry |
GICS Sub-Industry (Level 4) | gics_sub_industry |
- Lookback: We have added a lookback feature for consensus estimates. Thanks to this, it is now possible to control how recently a consensus number needs to have been revised to consider it “valid.” Just add the optional parameter ‘lookback=’ with a time frame (e.g.: 30d, 10w, 1q, 2y).
- For example: =snt(“msft”,”revenue_est”,”fy2020”,”lookback=30d”) returns (MSFT’s revenue estimate for FY2020 only if it has been published less than 30 days ago). When not specified, the lookback is set to 200 days.
- Added two new statistic options: percent change (pct_chg) and absolute change (chg). These are also available in the formula builder.
- Peer lists: We added the ability to call the list of peers according to our proprietary Sentieo methodology (Sentieo_peers), according to the overlap in sell-side analyst coverage (analyst_coverage_peers), and simply based on GICS and closest revenue and market cap (GICS_peers).
Bug Fixes
- Addressed issues with statistics calculation for dollar volume liquidity and equity beta
- Addressed issue with calculation of statistics when a monthly time period is entered. As an example, =snt(“aapl”,“close”,“tf=3m”,“pct_chg”)
- Addressed issue preventing users from reformatting single date FX calls
- Addressed issue where date fields were not recognized as such by Excel macros such as conditional formatting.
